Based on creative imaging devices with extremely high performance which the Institute has developed, the Institute creates more innovative imaging systems through Joint Use and Cooperative Research with researchers in the electronics, photonics and mechatronics fields. Furthermore the Institute aims at contributing to development of various science fields and industries such as life science, medicine, environment and materials science by offering the imaging systems to users and carrying out Joint Use and Cooperative Research from a broader view. Accordingly, the Institute plans, coordinates, and executes the cooperative research projects covering the foundation, the technologies, and the systems in image field, interdisciplinary fields and their integrated fields, in cooperation with distinguished domestic and foreign researchers. The research projects are characterized as location-free purpose-oriented projects, and are different from the conventional projects, organized by shared-use-type Institutes and bound to large-scale equipment or facilities. The cooperative research projects should be planned with the collaborative efforts and knowledge of the participating researchers, who should actively contribute and pursue the project goals. This invitation for project proposals and participation is extended to university faculties and government laboratories as well as to industrial research groups.Since the projects assume joint research with the Institute, each project should be proposed by a team of researchers including at least one member of the Institute and external participants.Guidelines for proposals and application forms can be downloaded from here.(c) Research Institute of Electronics, Shizuoka University.
